First of all, meet my kid's Papa. He's the one happily peering through the wreath. He obviously enjoyed his Christmas present from Aidan last year. Now, take a good look at the wreath. Isn't it really cool? (I'm having a proud moment here.)
For many people - with kids and all, and the holiday chaos - gone are the days of crafting unique homemade gifts ... me included. But last year, Aidan and I pulled it off. (Thanks to FamilyFun!) It wasn't bad at all ... and as Aidan put it, "This is actually kinda fun!" You can easily make a wreath for all seasons too. Here's how:
You'll Need:
• embroidery hoops (about 3-5 inches wide)
• solid colored canvas material
• paint brush and paint or paint pens (We used fabric markers - easy!)
• outdoor Mod Podge (We used a spray sealant from the craft store.)
• greenery, faux berries or other seasonal extras
• a grapevine wreath
• floral wire
Instructions:
1. For each "ornament" measure the hop, then cut a fabric circle that's an inch larger in diameter. Sandwich the fabric between the rings of the hoop, then pull the fabric taut and tighten the screw. Trim any excess fabric.
2. Decorate the "ornaments". Let them dry, as needed, and apply your coat of Outdoor Mod Podge for weatherproofing. Let that dry. Attach the ornaments and greenery or other extras to the wreath with lengths of floral wire.
